Description
Spanning over 500 years, this novel presents the stories of four girls from different generations of a Jewish family. In 1492, Benvenida and her family must flee the Inquisition in Spain. In 1923, Reina is sent from Turkey to Cuba because she defied her father. In 1961, Reina's daughter Alegra leaves her parents in Cuba and emigrates to the United States. In 2003, Alegra's daughter travels to Spain with her parents and grandmother to try and better understand her familys past, never suspecting what they would uncover.
